i am resolved

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
 Micah 6:8 NIV

when trouble comes like unexpected rain-
drops, when my tears the face of gladness stain,
i am resolved to yield not, though half-slain;
for though i fall, my hopes are not in vain.

though darkness kill the dreams i’ve cherished long
and silence mute the belly of my song,
i am resolved, when cornered by the throng,
to let my light bear witness to the wrong

that evil men, bound by the cords of hate,
on weaker men seek to perpetuate;
for there before me lies the Golden Gate
through which brave men shall one day congregate.

faith hungers not for soft and easy rides
nor trust from conflicts runs away and hides;
justice and mercy rid the heart of pride
that in the Father’s Love safely abide.
