Falling away

One of my coworkers killed themselves yesterday, made me think even more about how little I feel lately, while others feel so much. Religious, spiritual or none of the above.

People are not great
They're not special
They're distant lights burning out

If
for a moment
They move forward just a bit
A cluster of men and women
Helping each other stay lit
In the blanket of darkness
that surrounds us
Sometimes I see freckles
Of happiness
Sometimes I see blemishes
on the face of Earth
From birth
we're all raised in different situations
That shouldn't make us indifferent
And lose our patience
To let hate and discrimination
Be the new face of our population...

In the news lately
There's been leaders of religion
Renouncing their faith
The triad of commentary goes
1. "People grow out of Fairy tales you know?"
2. "Grew too rich off the ignorance of others now?"
3. "The bible says in the end times people will lose their faith and others will fall with them"

I wonder which rings true ...
