Brains

Police were dispatched to a local shopping center parking lot
Where it was reported that a woman was calling for help
Saying that she had been shot as she sat in her car.
Officers and emergency response teams arrived at the scene
As the woman was sitting in the driver side seat, crying
Sitting very still with her hands on the back of her head

When the officers approached the car she hardly moved,
She had been sitting in there nearly an hour...

“Ma’am are you ok?” the officer asked the terrified woman,
“Officer, I’ve been shot in the back of the head.”
The officer and one of the paramedics checked the car
But didn’t see any shattered glass.
“Get to me the hospital please, my brains are everywhere!”

The officer noticed that indeed there was
white matter was splattered in the back of her head
seeping and running down the woman’s hand.
“What is that?” the officer whispered to the paramedic,
“I don’t know, I’ve never seen anything like that before”

“Are you in any pain ma’am?” the paramedic asked,
“No!” she said quietly “but I’m so scared, it’s my brains!”

The officer opened the passenger side rear door
And noticed the groceries bags still sitting there
Then looked at the white matter on the woman’s head
And upon a closer inspection solved the mystery.

“Ma’am, tell me exactly what happened” the officer asked,
“I put the groceries in back seat” she started with a stutter,
“Then I remembered I forgot something on the list
So I went back into the store and when I got back into the car
As I closed the door, I heard a really loud pop and felt
Something hit my head, when I touched it, I felt my brains…”
She trailed off crying, terrified, almost hysterical

“Ma’am it’s not what you think” the paramedic cut in,
The officer put his hand on the back of the woman’s head
Then put the doughy substance in between his fingers
And showed it to her...

“They’re not your brains”

It was discovered that of the groceries she left in the car
A can of frozen dough had warmed up and exploded
Causing the tin cover to hit her head along with the dough.
