Bird Of Prey

I'd forgotten lately how good you look,
But it's still there in your pretty face.
Yet somehow you're crying out for love,
Crying so much sometimes it hurts.

I'd forgotten how deep your soul is too,
How deep it reaches the four corners of me.
I want to know and feel your touch,
Especially when at your unguarded best.
I like it most when you don't pretend -
Pretending to put a brave face on things.
I like the way you think things through.

Sometimes I'll give you all my love,
Love comes in waves and bursts with me.
And you can make me feel complete,
So let's make love before we sleep.

And when the dawn has finally broken,
Take off again, embrace the day.
For you are stronger than you know -
My sometimes frightened little bird.
And when you're feeling full of fear,
I'll be here, keeping you near.

My rare and delicate bird of prey,
Beautiful bird, I hope you stay.
Under my wing I'll hold you tight,
Making everything alright.
And I will pray for the day...
Lasting happiness lights the way.
