All aspects of pain.

The mental dull of Christmas-themed repetition,
foreigners… happy to see the snow.
The ivory tower, no longer capable
of bouncing the same lines
back at the stage.
Instead they dance inside this head.

This damned operculum.
Swollen above a tooth that should have blossomed
a few years ago.
Starved by a fear of eating
rubbing Benzocaine in to the surface
for a minute of peace.

Salivating heavily at the thought
of anything, then having to swallow.
A claw hammer to the jaw
when all the dentists are busy with
teething infants and the aches
of sugar-fiends.

All of this to take in,
whilst the nerves are shot through.
Not enough alcohol,
or time to obtain
outside of this Pantomime
which I watch from above.
‘If you want something hard enough,
it will come’ Is the message
straight from the mouth of Ms. Joseph.
Yet here I am,
and here I stay.
