MAN ON EARTH
MAN ON EARTH
What is man but a chick that moves
so scared among the fiercest cats
whose hunger makes them seek a chance
to pierce their teeth in his thin throat.
He has no power save his heart
that looks for help from distant skies
which give him all means to escape
and change his squeaks to vultures' cries.
From that far sky he sees his hope
that comes from those most lovely stars
that twinkle like the saintly eyes
which send him power and supplies.
The Lord appears among the clouds
to tell him that He is so near
and ask him not to fear his foes
as man to his Lord is so dear.
