What IS the Covenant in "Confirm the Covenant"(Daniel 9.27)

"He will CONFIRM THE COVENANT with many for 7 years.."(Daniel 9.27).
This is NOT talking about the Antichrist making a deal (peace treaty) with ISRAEL in the Endtime.

How are we to take "confirm the Covenant" in Daniel 9.27 ??!!
Well, the context or setting is the action in the previous verse.
In verse 26 we read that the Messiah will be "cut off," put to death.
Since the Messiah was "the prophet like me" that Moses predicted would come (Deuteronomy 18.15), the rejection of the Messiah was the abomination of all abominations(Deuteronomy 18.19; Acts 3.23).
Logically it should bring down upon the the Jews the curses in the Law of Moses(Deuteronomy 28.25,49,64).
To see if those curses did actually come upon the Jewish nation soon after the crucifixion of Christ, we look to Daniel 9.27.
For that verse is immediately after the verse about the "cutting off" of the Messiah(verse 26).
 We find that verse 27 IS about the falling of the curses upon the Jews.
For it predicts the "destroying of the city" of Jerusalem, which occurred in AD 70.
That filfilled Deuteronomy 28.52 about the wartime enemy tearing down "the walls which you trust in," the walls of Jerusalem.
So on that basis we see that the destruction of Jerusalem and the defeat in war, (and the driving of the Jews into exile,etc) WAS a confirmation of the curses of the Covenant of Moses.
Now, if we use shorthand, we could say it was the confirming of the Covenant of Moses.
Finally, if we use shorthand again, we could simply say it was "the confirming of the Covenant."
So THAT's how we can understand the words "confirm the Covenant" in Daniel 9.27 - it is SHORTHAND for confirming the curses of the Covenant of Moses !!!

So Daniel 9.27 has NOTHING TO DO with the EndTime. It was fulfilled way back in AD 70 !!
This is confirmed by the fact that Daniel 9.27 can be interpreted as stipulating that "war will continue til the end" of the 7 year "week."
 So it is speaking of a 7 years war.
Was there a 7 years war in the "70th Week of Daniel" ??
Yes, indeed there was.
For the Roman-Jewish War of AD 66 to AD 70 can also be thought of as running til AD 73 - if we count the Roman siege of MASADA as the last battle of that war.
For that siege lasted til AD 73. And mid 66 to mid 73 does add up to 7 years.
 The well reputed Encyclopedia Judaica does give "66 to 70/73" as the duration of that war, showing that AD 73 is considered a valid alternative to 70 as the end of that war.
