I Have Taken Leave

I have taken leave -
a vessel making ripples in the still water,
the hull cutting through ice beneath,
settling
             in this space.
The Moon, giant and ripe, quakes against the surface, creates an affair.
       Breathing
in through open mouth
and out, as if resting on a heavy dream
where you are there
naked
     and mine.
I lick your wounds and tie your wrists
to my wrists -
             slaves  -
owned by a higher power.
I dare not share these parts with you,
curiosity in your soul,
while this shell
grows powerful, giant and ripe, in parted years.
My nails will still sink as deep,
         low below our bright Moon.
