-A Song for My Sons-

This day, I see through the Sun's golden light, my sons throughout the years. They've stayed by my side; to them unobserved, though I now watch with tear-glimmered eyes. There but go I, for always will be in the heart of a father's true love. I've watched them play and grow all their days with such love, no one could share. For, within my heart all that is good came from you, my beautiful sons. And I wish, forever, we could stay as one, together as family. But, Time has Its way and forever's too soon, and this wish will not always be. Though, if you don't mind from time-to-time, I'll look down to guide you through...All the hardships and trials life does bear, just remember I will be there with you.

Love You Always and Forever,
Dad

Author's Note
They say, "With time comes wisdom." Not sure if I qualify in all areas which that would encompass but as I've aged, certain things have come to light. I began writing songs at a very young age, then a few years back I began writing poetry in an attempt to exorcise internal demons whom where reeking havoc with my health and psyche. Anyway, if you read between the lines of all I've posted here at 'Deepundergroundpoetry,' the common thread linking all, believe it or not, is love (lack of, or attempting to find). But, most importantly for me, I've discovered through my writing that love of family is the most important reason and why I am here on this earth. For all of the demons, hardships and struggles I've endured throughout life, these experiences have made me who and what I am. Peace, Max
