When Skies are Grey
When skies are grey
I will say goodbye.
When skies are blue
I will call your name
To see you for the last time.
To carry a piece of you with me,
I will bury my blood in Heaven.
Will you see me in the sky
Or are you a voice in my head?
I see the sun rising over the ashes
As they are born upon the wind.
Your words echo as if only now spoken:
Perfumed over rivers of newborn blooms.
I breathe it in and walk with you to the light.
A simple “Amen” marked the day.
Souls of my tears rose to the dawn.
There was no grave. Only the sun.
My heart lay broken in your eyes.
Eternal life and I will be sleeping
In the waters between moons
That will be when skies are grey
