Since the day i became " awake "
i don't believe i've ever actually hated anyone -- even the people who don't like me and say stuff about me
behind my back.  
i DO pray for them, though -- not to like me but for their personal pain to somehow work its way to leaving these people so they might experience the type of peace and compassion that i enjoy.

Thank you, Tallen. Exactly.  If you will see my comment to ehoingsilence, you'll better understand why I used the term "hate" vs "fear" in this context.  

We pray the same thing daily, my friend.  That those who perceive us as their enemy discover their purpose, and from that purpose arise goals which fill them with joy.  People who focus on others are simply lacking their own direction, and as much as I want to scream "GET A LIFE" - I also realize we all evolve at our own pace, and many times reactions determine that evolution. After all, it's not action that starts war - it's reaction.

Actually, that's grace.  We give grace because we need grace - except in circumstances of narcissism or abuse.  In those cases one does not need to engage in order to move on.  Forgiveness is not about the perpetrator but victim. It is letting go so the perpetrator has no control over the victim's mind, thoughts, or actions any longer.

Many victims live very happy and joyful lives without ever speaking another word to an abuser.  They have forgiven in their heart and moved on to enjoy their own lives in whatever way they choose.

You are right in that praying is the best way of doing so.  Thank you for your comment.

"hate" is a mighty horrible word.  But sometimes it seems like our collective consciousness (karma) is a bit overloaded with it.

Yep, that's true, Dada.  I used "hate" in this because "fear" would've been perceived by the majority in the wrong context, I am afraid.

Prayer is a great modus operandi - and it's great to see it in this context.

It has been said the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. You can't be indifferent to someone you are praying for. This makes breathing hard because it is easy to forget while reading this.

I used to think that way, silence.  Then I had some sort of epiphany and realized that indifference, or apathy, means a lack of feeling. Therefore, if one doesn't feel then one cannot "hate ( resent, detest, whatever ).  One simply doesn't care.  This denotes lack of emotion. I meditated on this for years before receiving the answer that the opposite of Love is fear ( imho ).  

Every action we do stems from one of two emotions: Love or fear. Joy, peace, acceptance, generosity, gratitude and so forth are of Love. While spite, bitterness, unrest, vindictiveness, envy, greed, violent aggression, and thanklessness stem from fear. Once you master this you can immediately recognize which emotion someone is acting from.  

I couldn't use fear in this context because it just didn't work in the verse. Too many would have interpreted it as horror movie fear - and that was not my intent; thus, hate. I don't know anyone who hasn't related to that at least some point in their lives.

It's nicely succinct, so that the message is not lost amid words and poetic devices.    in recent years, I have struggled with what exactly it means "to pray for someone"; I because disenchanted with listing what I thought that people needed.

Thank you, SeaCat.  I simply thank the Universe for the love in my heart for all people, even those who consider me their enemy, and those I especially want to extinguish off the face of the earth in a moment of hypocrisy.  LOL!  

So I suppose I am offering gratitude for what I have inside me that I may have temporarily forgotten.
