Fantastic metaphor - it takes a determination and grit ( literally ) to form pearls from trials and tribulations.

You multiply the metaphor with your "grit"!
Your RL addition is just the icing on the cake: thank you.
Because I know where your heart is, I will tell you how this poem came about. I tend to hang on the little bits of words spoken by anyone (including myself) with whom I converse, in the hope of finding some hidden profundity to include in my witticisms.
Such was the case when another poet, Crimsin (Brenda), read my "rusted dreams" (https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/353731-rusted-dreams/)
and added it to her RL with the comment, "...you are truly an artist/turning pain into something so beautiful..."
My response was, "I think everyone of us has an oyster inside: it's the part of us that, in the throes of pain and discomfort, makes pearls of our sandy grains of trouble.
"Otherwise, what a waste of the canvas of life, when we fail to paint pictures with our broken nibs and bloody inks!
"Your RL inclusion is a wonderful honour to my living canvas, broken nibs, and bloody inks."
Isn't it amazing; all I had to do was versify the dialogue to make it into a poem.

It's so much easier to work with the grit of trials and tribulations to form pearls than constantly fight them and accomplish nothing but bitterness from their presence. One cannot grow if one does not learn. As a pool of water with no fresh source stagnates within itself.
