Painful Memory
I never will forget the day
my world came crashing down
It happened out on highway 6
just right outside of town
My wife and I were headed home
after dinner and a show
When a truck who crossed the center line
gave me nowhere else to go
When I hit the ditch doing 65
all I heard was Tammy scream
Everything around me slowed
like I'd stepped into a dream
We must have rolled at least 3 times
though I'm sure that it was more
Then I asked my wife if she was hurt
as I opened up my door
If she answered me I couldn't hear
for the ringing in my head
So I came around to check on her
and realized she was dead
It'll be a year tomorrow
when my life came to an end
I not only lost my wife that day
but also my best friend
But tonight we'll be as one again
of this I have no doubt
As I place her picture on my chest
and the barrel in my mouth
My final thoughts upon this earth
were of the only love I'd found

I lost a soulmate once, and his death was Spiritually devastating. I walked around like a zombie for days. Felt so weak I could barely move. Made excuses of allergies out in the field on shoots, spoke to my spiritual guides - who told me a horse was with me for strength, and would carry me across this. Then one day, out on a shoot there was a horse I was inexplicably drawn to. I saw something in his eyes so I knelt and snapped a photograph.
Later, upon developing that photograph, in the background behind me, where no shadow should've been in the angle of the sun, was the shape of a horse and a broken warrior on its back. I think for the first time in my life, I cried a river of belief and relief that there was something more than this place - that what I had always known innately was truth despite lack of proof.
Coincidence? Play of light? Or message? I chose the latter because I believe there are no coincidences - and I pray that somehow, you find the strength to lean on whatever the universe has sent to carry you across this unimaginable pain and loss. Because it did get me through. And through unimaginable odds - I discovered there was not only more than this place, but more in this place too.
My deepest condolences if this is true - as well as healing energy and strength to help carry you through.

Thank you for that very warm and heartfelt review, I certainly appreciate it. As for the poem, it happened, but no one died. I wrote this to remind me what COULD HAVE happened. And had the poem been completely factual, I wouldn''t be here.

You're welcome. It wasn't so much a review as a sentiment - being it could've been true. It's very difficult to critique something of this nature unless there is a footnote explaining its reasoning.
