My Child's Eyes

In My Child's Eyes I am his hero and I am his Favorite
He doesn't see the bags under my eyes
He doesn't understand why I'm working to jobs
He doesn't understand that I work my ass off for him and his daddy

In My Child's Eyes I am superwoman and I am beautiful
He crys when I go and squeals when I come home to him
He gives me a hug and a kiss every morning and every night
Even some kisses and hugs in between
He waits for me to read his bedtime story and snuggles against my chest

In My Child's Eyes I am the keeper of Cheerios and chocolate milk
He watches in awe as I put supper on the table after a twelve hour shift
He smiles as I give him a bath as I start to doze off
He giggles when he splashs me and I jump up awake

In My Child's Eyes I am all his daddy and him have
He doesn't understand that I need them as much as they need me
He never will understand how much I miss him when I'm away
He won't ever know what it's like to be unloved because I love him so much

In My Child's Eyes I am his hero in his little eyes
I work long hours and feel bad when I leave him
I come home and I am exhausted but I still find time to play
I know what I truly am in my child's eyes
