Lament of the Golden Flower

He once was a lord of Gondolin
Strong and mighty as he was fair
Yet few ever noticed what was within
Only the confident could hold his stare.
-
Oh, Golden Flower, you are withered
Even if your air says otherwise
The title "Balrog Slayer" makes you shiver
As you recall the painful memories of your demise.
-
You persevere throughout the ages
And aim your sight towards the future
You always skip through the pages
Banished was the warrior to give way to the scholar.
-
Oh, Golden Flower, you are hurting
No one understands the torment you face
Even though you've resisted the one ring
You feel as if you don't belong in this age.
-
Your heart and fëa belong to Valinor
Yet your duty bounds you to Middle-Earth
You long to walk along the white shore
And be at home in the place of your birth.
-
Oh, Golden Flower, you are not alone
There are those that care for you
The great creator sits upon his throne
And the world lights up in a golden hue.
