A Thousand

White-crested waves of a thousand oceans
A mere drop against the universe in your eyes
They hold the lure of a thousand sunsets
They blaze bright with the things that you hide

Connection; fragile and awash in raw beauty
Calling to me inside this high tower Iíve built
Climbing, yearning, reaching; like English ivy
Through the cracks my resolve starts to wilt

The vivid orange of a thousand new sunrises
The deepest green of spring at her birth
The darkest blue of a thousand new midnights
None can compare to the depth of your worth

Days built with the business end of surviving
Nights paved with muddy roads made of tears
You brought your lantern and lit up the space
And you built a ladder made of your fears

Dreaming of a thousand ways to know you
Impossible thoughts are all words I canít find
My touch wanders over you a thousand times
Bleeding into the deepest corners of my mind

Inside the walls you have built of your pain
I shouldnít be in here, but Iím here all the same
Tearing down bricks of my own stone dwelling
To build shelter to keep us safe from the rain
