Emily, from Amherst

Did she perceive she was an extreme?
While gathering her paintings; amid the splendor.
From somewhere, seemingly beyond the garden’s shores.
Before fig leaves, two lovers’ adorned.
As the serpent mum! - meandered alone.
And where the great whales’ sang with perfect tone!

Author's Note
It is just a “run of the mill” poem. I truly adore Emily Dickinson's work, and the lifestyle she led.
