I can't love again,
Not because I despise the rain,
That tame nature over and over
Till summer bears her thither.

I can't love again,
Not because I love the sun,
That breaks the rules of the rain,
And gulp her efforts : in fun.

I can't love again
Cos love ain't meant for me,
Each steps towards it flung me back again:
Like the torrent gets from the sniffy sea.

I'm better off in love with love,
Than giving my heart, expecting what will not come.
