I Wouldn't Be Lost
I don't ever think I could get lost
not even walking thru the woods,
the dense pines
or even
the great forest
of the Adirondacks
I wouldn't need a bread trail,
no not the hot delicious loaf
you dip in oil and cheese
as you wait on date night
at that charming old
Italian spot you love so so much,
but those crusty ends
starting to discolor
resting on the back shelf
in your pantry
I wouldn't be scared either,
no not even as I swam naked in the brook
enjoying the peace of the purest of water
crisp, clean and cool
as the silver and pink fish swam about
but warn you now
I might worry
yes I might worry
if the grizzlies came and cause me shock
yes I might worry
my climbing skills won't be enough
and the pine needles
those pointy ones
too rough
on my barely burnt skin
still though, thru it all,
I don't believe I would be lost
not even walking thru the woods,
the dense pines
or even
the great forest
of the Adirondacks
I wouldn't need a bread trail,
no not the hot delicious loaf
you dip in oil and cheese
as you wait on date night
at that charming old
Italian spot you love so so much,
but those crusty ends
starting to discolor
resting on the back shelf
in your pantry
I wouldn't be scared either,
no not even as I swam naked in the brook
enjoying the peace of the purest of water
crisp, clean and cool
as the silver and pink fish swam about
but warn you now
I might worry
yes I might worry
if the grizzlies came and cause me shock
yes I might worry
my climbing skills won't be enough
and the pine needles
those pointy ones
too rough
on my barely burnt skin
still though, thru it all,
I don't believe I would be lost
