words of silence

I imagine we talk in tongues of silence
but I'm not sure you miss my words
the way I miss the space between your thoughts

I'm lonely without you
though my dreams no longer feature you
with your soul stripped bare

You found the sunlight
while I languish
in these melancholy shadows
I keep calling home
'cause there's beauty in the overcast
if you learn to ignore the rain

And I ache with the absence of people
that hold my heart to ransom
unknowing of the way my ribcage creaks their names
when there's no one around to listen

I imagine we talk in tongues of silence
but I'm not sure you miss my words
the way I miss the space between your thoughts

And I have no words for you today
that my bones can't hide in their marrow
cause your face is just a memory
and mine was perhaps just a dream
I half hope you'll forget tomorrow

I imagine we talk in tongues of silence
but instead we say nothing at all
and my heart breaks with the weight of it

I'm sorry I miss you
