Running Around In Circles

I’ve been running around in circles
I’ve been chasing the afternoons
Wondering if you can hear me and
If we see the same side of the moon

I’d been down the deepest valleys
Said I’d been howling at the moon
I can’t seem to stop myself from running
I can’t stop myself from looking for you

But my forests are drying up and
All the lush tree growth is dying out
The green earth has turned to red dirt
And I can’t figure what it’s all about

Feet burning on the scorched earth
And I’m still running around in circles
My lungs are so bare, they're screaming
And one thing I can't jump is this hurdle

There’s not a cloud here in the blue sky
Nor a running stream that I can drink from
If I could turn into a flying eagle, still I’d try
But I’m just a lone wolf beating on her drum

My heart just beats that much harder
It seems it won’t ease up anytime soon
My burning question, is that if you look up
Do we see the same side of the moon?

There are no answers to my questions
But if I stopped asking, oh, I know
I’d still be running around in circles
Begging my beating heart to just let go
