Image for the poem reflections of a water sprite

reflections of a water sprite

a cranberry dawn bittersweet
rose in the skies in my quiet time
its beauty compelled me to break my silence
I was saddened in my reverie
pale compared with her glory
I dance on her waters
a sprite unnoticed by the passersby
the day herself took notice of me
Mother Nature's handiwork true and powerful
I was a creature of mischief
playing tricks on the mortal mind
there was a place for me in her heart
a proper time for all things
my stirring ushered in the sun's brilliance
but I was not the sun
I celebrate with Mother
but not Nature herself
the sky colors me blue
I am a reflection of the air
fashioned in the likeness of the stage--
the dawn dances upon
little one are we not all reflections?
