Truth about Romance

You and I aren't the best couple,
sometimes we're not even mediocre,
sometimes loving you boils my blood and makes me weep with fury,
sometimes it feels numbed and almost lost in a maze of life's many duties.

You and I aren't romantic,
we don't dance or gift flowers,
we don't always remember important events,
we don't kiss in the intervals of noise and business.

You are the love of my life,
you are my sanctuary, my best friend, all that is hopeful and good in me,
for you I would climb mountains, face falls, push myself far beyond my limits,
for you I would give up my home, my bad habits, my fears,
in you I have found a forgiveness I have never known anywhere else, an ability to choose a path that is good for myself.

I trust you, in a way I've trusted none before you. I am able to be honest with you, even when I know it will make you mad, because I know you'd never harm or shun me. I cherish you, in my quietness, in the simple act of cooking or tidying or consulting you before I run off excitedly to start yet another project.

You are the best thing to happen to my life.
Thank you for our safe and warm home.
Thank you for our active and engaging life.
Thank you for our precious and curious daughter.

Never doubt my feelings for you
- Even when we are below mediocre, even when I want to pack a bag and walk away, I promise I won't leave you, I promise I won't abandon you, I promise I will always find the will to love you more than before.

You've given me so much life, hope and care. I promise to love you for as long as I live,
as hard as I can.
You see, we are not romantic, you and I - but all the things that romance is, in the undercurrent, thrives within us.
