Image for the poem Now That I知 Gone

Now That I知 Gone

Just when you think you know me so well
I know that you think you致e got me pegged
All these little pieces of me you seem to collect
But one things for sure, you don稚 know me yet

All those times I picked you up off the ground
I dusted you off, and smoothed out all the rough
I was seemingly sweet and always meant well
But I値l tell you, to know that is still not enough

I raised you up, I thought you deserved it
I知 always right, but with you i知 dead wrong
To think you can make it out here on your own
I say to you, darling, you won稚 last very long

I gave you all I had, my whole heart and soul
The needles and drugs couldn稚 send me away
Because something in you was addictive, and
I just knew that you needed me, so I stayed

So how does it feel where I left you, love?
Tell me, is it cold in that closet of a house?
Don稚 you wish you could hold me one more time?
If only my flames hadn稚 been so greedily doused

You池e a drain of a human, the only light was me
You値l never find another to worship you as I did
They値l never see what I saw, even so blindly
You may be a grown ass man, yet you池e just a kid

Don稚 you ever forget who put you up there
Up high on that pedestal, looking out of place
For you致e no reason to feel superior to me
Cause you池e just a jokester trying to save face

With all this absence, I知 sure you now see
So rest easy, on your flimsy styrofoam throne
The one you ached to be sitting atop all high
Because without me, your throne has no home
