The Loner
Watch as she walks by and her head hangs low
Hood up and arms crossed with ear buds in
People see this but no one wonders why she's sad
No one ever asks her if she is ok or if she wants to talk
No one wants anything to do with the Loner
Baggy pants and baggy long sleeve shirts to cover the scars
Long brown hair to cover her eyes to hide her bruises
Heavy make up to hide her other marks and bumps
No body cares that she fears going home at night
No body wants to waste their time on the Loner
Lost and confused she lays on the cold wet ground
Pain vibrating through her chest as blood seeps out
This time he really meant it when he said he'd kill her
Sirens in the background she hopes that they are for her
Lifted up on a streatcher her head begins to spin
Who is this girl a paramedics asks the officer beside her
Who knows and who cares they reply she's a loner
Beep beep beep they monitor hums in her ears
Her body aches underneath warm sheets
Weak from the loss of so much blood she can barely open her eyes
A man sits in the chair beside her and smiles warmly
Taking her hand in his he moves a strand of hair outta her eyes
You don't need to hide no more Rebecca he whispers
I promise you will never be labeled the Loner again
The paramedic who found her after her father shot her
The man who saved her life decided to adopt her
Who could ever beat a girl the way that monster did
Who could ever shoot their own flesh and blood
Why didn't she ever report the monster before
Why bother because no one wanted to help the Loner
