Peaceful Moments Amongst The Chaos
Sitting quietly on the tail gate of my truck on a Sunday afternoon, as a million thoughts keep running through my mind.
Memories, thoughts, hopes, smiles, dreams, good times and bad times, all colliding together like a roller coaster flying off the rails after the long climb up before the drop.
Seeing the old Tonka truck sitting half hidden in the grass.
Listening to squirrels make noises and jump from tree to tree.
The swings hanging silently off the tree limbs.
Watching dogs doo zoomies in the grass and the neighborhood kids, run around and play without a care in the world.
The sun is playing its afternoon game of hide and seek from behind the clouds as they roll in.
The daily change, beginning to bring in the wind and the breeze and as the temperature cools, the threat of rain looms over the tree line and the first rain drops begin to pitter patter upon the ground, I cannot help but smile.
With all the stuff that goes on day to day between work, co-workers, friends, family and life itself, i am always grateful for moments like this.
That if we all could just learn to pause for a moment and let our surroundings absorb us and overwhelm our senses with their wonder, we will see that even though there is every day chaos, there is also every day peace that surrounds us as well.
