WHY DO I WRITE ?
WHY DO I WRITE ?
Perhaps, you ask, "Why do you write ?
Is it not just to build a name?"
It is in part for that clear aim ,
but truth and love have their great charm .
I tend to say the honest word ,
but people hate to hear the truth .
The truth is always for the heart
and worthless words are for the tongue .
I find in my pen and my sheet
the only friends who love the truth .
My tongue feels free to break the chain
imposed on by a crafty brain .
I love the truth when it joins hands
with some love that can blunt its blade .
The two endow what we all need
to get the joy and life they plead .

Commenting Preference:
The author encourages honest critique.
Leaving aside the questions of (1)whether things can or do endow "us" with whatever it is that "we all" need” and (2) whether truth and love actually or ever engage in acts of "pleading" to "get" joy and life, even assuming that they have a need for these things.
isn't your answer to what you perceive to be the question (that someone might ["perhaps"] ask of you) as to why you write -- i.e., to present "truth" with "some love" to a brain chained to ignorance audience -- more than a little presumptuous?
What reason does any reader of this attempt at poetry have to believe the truth of the claim that is implicit in your answer -- namely, that you, and you alone, are in possession of " truth", let alone that you, and you alone, have the ability to put into words?
Moreover, I see that on another forum the question that **is** most often, and actually, asked of you is " Why do you write **in the way you do**?" -- that is, in poorly metered quatrains in which one finds awkward inversions and incomplete sentences that are often filled with grammatical mistakes and misused words, in order to get rhymes.
Is it because you think, as you apparently do (given your habit of writing in the form and manner that you almost always post in), that the " truth" you claim to be privy to and want to teach to your readers is most effectively expressed and made known to dulled minds in forced rhymed quatrains that formally (and often awkwardly) mirror the style of verse that was popular in Victorian times, even assuming that you know what "truth" is?

Thank you very much for your interest. Actually, l love those who criticize me much more than those who praise me. That's why l choose honest criticism. However, please, instead of saying my poems are full of mistakes, please mention these mistakes so that they will be useful to me.
