Break Me Down

with a trembling smile
i release the butterflies
like a rolling stone
across my barren back
the skin tingling
sensation no longer
a sanctimonious release
we've become
an air brushed
egotistical death
let’s not sacrifice
our unspoken words
the pain resides deep
within the realms
of my dry river bed
the tears awash
with black and gray
a mollusk shell
mother of pearl
layer of loneliness
this transpired quickly
the story unraveling
a short distance
from impure ecstasy
on a broken road
no songs left
for the birds to sing
tweeting unseen truths
buried deep
within the global exchange
of an unborn reality
break me down
into poetic pieces
let me have
a tender mercy
spread across this
now barren landscape
like a comet born of ice
released by
the warmth of the sun
the smoke sieves
my splintered hopes
cleanse me of all
remnants of you
let my grace remain
please bypass my
sacred heart
you've no vested interest
break me down
break me down
just break me down
a stranger among many
my delicate indiscretions
quietly simmering
in delicate repose
an unpossessed
decadent fire
