How to live a life

Who confuses perfection with peace of mind
Has to realize tomorrow he still will not find
Whatever he had in mind about a future of the kind
You only really dream about when you are blind–
-ly following the people who are inclined
To dig their own grave and leave nothing behind
But the idea that some judgement has the right to define
One’s value in relation to human kind
While we cease to remind us that our twisted inner guide is
The sole thing that binds us to solitary confinement
Which forces a focus on trying to survive
To be the only objective we can strive for in this life
Instead of simply thriving on being alive
The purpose of my life is not to live it in disguise
The only person who decides however much I compromise
Is me myself and I - will give a word of advice
The only place to look for answers does reside deep inside
If you have faith in you – will find that your own mind is divine
Your true potential is the only thing you have to realise -
That the protection that they promise is denial of the crisis
That we live in, it’s our life, it’s what we’re given, roll the dice
We think we know what life’s about but to us all it’s a surprise
Don’t be pretentious, let things go and above all just be nice

Author's Note
My first attempt at proper spoken word. It's basically about how society confuses people to be anything but themselves. I tried a bit of phonetic word play, I'm not sure if it turned out right and also I'm not sure which way it's most clear when written down. Suggestions are welcome :)
