Image Isn't Everything

Life is what you make it
(broken or not)

a hammer, a chisel
hard granite, soft clay
molded, an image
but thru whose eyes I say

I'm not fancy china
put away with bubble wrap kisses
(im)pressed with a tie
to wow the rich misses

I'm a street corner crooner
come to take you away
we'll drag race the sunset
keeping nighttime at bay

stripped down and naked
all the way to our core
we howl in the silence
the outside ignored

fresh morning coffee
looking out at the rain
a sip of seduction
more wisdom I gain

each notch I care not
for when simply it's done
with sunglasses upon us
it's just you and me under the sun
