Where The Morning Glories Grow
In the daylight we can all see
the trails (mis)taken
where the snakes slithered
shed of their skin and withered
scared off the beauty
once scattered
where green grasses grew tall
come spring, come late fall
I'm beginning to notice
brushed up with the accoutrement
purple fig weed
mixed in with the dead
where did my morning glories go?
out past the meadow, so so far away
sun kissed alongside each petal
sprouting, unmitigated elegance
the fig weed left choking and the snake
exposed in light of day
the trails (mis)taken
where the snakes slithered
shed of their skin and withered
scared off the beauty
once scattered
where green grasses grew tall
come spring, come late fall
I'm beginning to notice
brushed up with the accoutrement
purple fig weed
mixed in with the dead
where did my morning glories go?
out past the meadow, so so far away
sun kissed alongside each petal
sprouting, unmitigated elegance
the fig weed left choking and the snake
exposed in light of day
