skydiving

my thoughts turn inward
and I am aware of my heart...

so foolishly reckless at times
sky diving with no thought of landing
it seems to have no care for its own happiness

easily lured in by some pretty words
it always fails to observe the sharp pointed teeth
of the one sweet talking to it

sharp and made to devour you, little girl,
didn't you know by now?
so guard yourself carefully in this land of men

your sparkle is what they're after
when you're tarnished and have lost your glow
they'll toss you aside and on to the next distraction

treat your man kindly
he's one of a kind
shaped especially with you in mind

souls don't unite everyday
bodies colliding is commonplace
in this world of lust

don't trade what's precious for a wink and a smile
above all remember he loves you
be careful after his heart if not for your own
