Rockhollow Series: Billardiera heterophylla

Weather: Mostly dry, heavy cloud, warm air.
Plant of the day: Strawberry
Wildlife of the day: Robin

Billardiera heterophylla

She said to me,
"I love the way that grows, what is that?" Not realising what it would mean to me,
how carefully I've cared for that plant she sees, in seed,
not even slightly at best. I mumble, bashful, something about inviting her back
when flowers flood it with blue.
She smiles, repeats she just liked it's form, we move along
to the hedgehog, but the comment sits in my belly days after, stored for pure joy, the praise of labour,
appreciation of a cherished kind.
I will invite her back, to walk these paths in June when that hue will be a cloud that knocks her down,
and delight in it.
For now, from a gardener who espaliered against all advice, thanks be to you sister,
you do not know the gift you gave.
