You get out of bed at 6:45.
Make that 7:00, 7:15-
I know it’s not easy
And I might have to nudge you.

Eat a bite, get dressed,
Brush your teeth
And then we go.
Finding parking can be tough
But it always works out
In the end.
I open your door,
And we walk up together.
You don’t have to hold my hand.
Those days are over, I suppose.

But you still hold my finger
And you hold it tight,
All the way
Until I let you go
At the doorway to Room 9.

BRINGING MY SON TO KINDERGARTEN
