Image for the poem We

We're Learning

He's learning my soul's intricate compass
Arms outstretched
Gently bids shelter to pain and numbness

Peering intently into beloved blue irises
My complexities searched over
Capturing still frames of all kept silenced

Hands skim the jagged roadmap of scars
Rendering my ugly, his beauty
Perfection upon a battlefield of wars

In my wellspring of hurt, tears taking form
He catches each burden to drop
From speckled hazels, his own are torn

He lays with me upon my bed of darkness
Anchors his head to my heart
As I'm learning, he's my sweetest catharsis
