Count The Days

 
 
People who make promises honestly lie
Their commitment to paper vows to comply
But human being can't ever fully be trusted
And if you’re wise enough they're easily busted
If the promise is too good to be true
Wise up my friend, for this is a clue
Even vows before god get thrown in the trash
Some made up justification is used to bash
Then indeed, the victim becomes the perpetrator  
Then the real perpetrator becomes the terminator
Not only was the promise a lie, so was the reason
For saying goodbye
 
Recorded voiced promises are different in that
Text cannot reveal true emotions and emphasis
They create a feeling that you are forced to trust
That force fake and all the lies are clearly unjust  
Heartstrings are finely tuned like tightly banded cigars
When lies are exposed, it creates the deepest of scars
The scars the neither, bio-oil, time or prayer can heal
And pain, rejection and betrayal is all you can feel
Even now, I listen to the voice saying, "I Love You"
In a twisted masochistic way of me needing shampoo
With every listen it still hurts deeply
Even now
 
Worse is making promises of a face to face type
Either in person, Messenger or Skype to Skype
When they look into your eyes and say "I love you"
You stare back, convincing yourself it must be true
The suddenly the walls of Jericho collapse
With a celebration of woops cheers and claps
The lies shared with others offend
I won’t go that low, I will not bend
The man is yet to be destroyed
But with a now gang activity deployed
Hammering the nails of the coffin lid shut
They celebrate his death
His last and final breath
 
But on the third day, as promised,.................
