Arrival
I await her coming home
My sweet lover in the night
She will stay, no more to roam
Her voice pure, gentle and slight
She went out through the evening tide
Drifted slowly out to sea
Her tears she could rarely hide
But, at long last, she was free
I have chosen to remain
And may feel the chill wind blow
I may be a man insane
But find peace with her singing low.

She went out through the evening tide
Drifted slowly out to sea
Her tears she could rarely hide
But, at long last, she was free
I have chosen to remain
And may feel the chill wind blow
I may be a man insane
But find peace with her singing low.

Not only haunting (as LilDragonFly says) but also the poem scans and flows and floats almost ghost-like over the waters of emotion.

This pain is so real to me Thomas. I too wish for that freedom, yet sadly, I stay behind. Hugs my friend

I believe we both live in a darkened world. You, my friend, are a true pleasure to have around. I just wish we had some modicum of peace, and lasting joy. You certainly deserve it, from all that I can tell. Thank you so much for the kind words, inclusion in your reading list and, of course, your own fine poetry.

Re. Arrival
Oh sir, the way this piece drifts... and I can hear you speaking slow, contemplatively, the words, your voice bowed to honor their melancholy.

Oh... the cruelty of those waves as the sea continues lapping upon the shore during those tidal moments !
This, is gorgeous but deeply saddening at the contemplation of such finality ~ 🔥🔥🔥
