Dark Emptiness

Nothing ever changes  
The sun rises the sun sets
Days pass by before your eyes
Never slowing down
The constant beating of time
A gradual wearing away of being
Where once there was sparkle
There is now a dullness
Grey film of sadness  
Feelings of abandonment
Is there a cure for this
Or always an overhanging cloud
That follows diligently  
Laughter from the shadows
Faceless automatons grabbing  
Just the usual living nightmare  
Perpetual moving pictures
That reach inside and gut you out
Leaving a shell  
A dark emptiness
That eats away at hope
Breathes life into despair
