Image for the poem When I Rise

When I Rise

As the moon beams down
She promises a light in the night
Bringing forth all types of magic
Behold such a breathtaking sight

When I rise, I bring the darkness
In the depths well past midnight
Just look to me to always guide you
For I will be there night after night

But after her, the sun does come
Graciously, she gives life to us all
You’ll feel the warmth of her rays
From the sky, she shall never fall

When I rise, I bring the happiness
Day after day, after all these years
When everything has passed me by
You can look up and I’ll still be here

But soon a being will come to life
Somewhere in between these realms
A force much to be reckoned with
A force of nature, and I am at the helm

When I rise, I shall show no mercy
With grace, I shall reclaim all that is mine
I shall go forth, fearlessly and endlessly
More than the sun or the moon will I shine

When I rise, I shall steel my heart
Against all the weight it's assumed
Still beating and fighting, always rising
For I dare match the sun and the moon
