Love's Bitter Fruit

He says he finds It dangerous to look
Upon the quiet loveliness displayed;
I blush and feel that I am brought to book:
The pressure at the heart of his warm gaze
Is something to account for,when love blooms;
But will it last or will it soon have fled?
Will it leave bitter days with empty rooms
And desolation? Once love's fruit is shed,
Can stones and pips be planted once again
To restore and recover love that's lost?
Or does the sun shine on in vain and rain
Fall on a barren acreage - the cost
Is something to be counted for the brunt
Is never borne by prick - always by cunt.
