Change

Winter to spring,
summer to fall
life keeps evolving
despite nature's call

moment to moment
when dreams were at hand
neither of us changing
things seemed so grand

but the rains came,
and then the snow
before we had known it
all stopped to grow

the sunshine was clouded
you felt a breeze
a warming from under
and drifted with ease

I weathered the storms
and froze in my tracks
trying to change
for what did I lack

patience was gone
breath came too hard
unraveled emotions
concrete, now the yard

homeless and helpless
was it I in the way
darkness keeps calling
for a tomorrow I pray
