[ NaPo 2019 ] No Poem Left Behind

    
Nevermind any daily grind;    
many a job requires focus    
commitment 'n discipline    
   
Recognition or trophies
don't concern us    
nor does another "win"    
   
Haven't gotten the message yet?    
   
Then you ain't gettin' it! written    
   
As a team, we work in tandem    
Disinterested in fawning fandom    
Reward comes naught at random    
   
Because ... poetry    
doesn't    
  write    
    itself    
   
Rough draft, critique, revision    
Scribbled idea to completed vision    
Meeting readers halfway by decision -    
not purely by accident or happenstance    
   
Because ... poetry is an art    
meant to be    
  a partnered    
    dance
