The air is swollen by rain,  
cherry blossom gently peeks out upon overcast sky, she is trusting when she  
should not be -
Perhaps she knows something I don't.  
 
Sparrows flock about the apple tree,  
damp laundry hangs  
lacking ability to dry.  
The sycamore is leafing, trying to block bleak flats beyond the reserve.  
 
I sit, contemplating the expanse of life  
outside this peaceful containment,  
my mother home - and all the blistering agony that boils within it,  
my lone drive Friday night of six hours with babe in car  
to somewhere that every time bleeds me dry.  
 
Hold me close now Rockhollow, as always,  
I fear for my quiet life.
