More than religious dissidents against the state church arrived on these shores.
1565 first Enslavesed Peoples arived in St. Augustine, Spanish Territory (Florida). First European settement
1619 jamestown Enslaved Peoples arrived. First white settlement.
The Transportation Act 1717 allowed courts to sentence convicts to seven years...
1776, 3,000+/- Hessians decided they liked the country well enough to make it their new home after the war.
All pure of heart...?
I’m sure their are more groups to research....
