This Dark Romance

The love of the dark
Makes its mark
Of the beast
You’ve just been fleeced

For the darkness of self
Affects mental health
Is unusual ways
A selfishness blaze

Humanity corrupts
Invasively interrupts
Where evil commands
The dark self-demands

Self-love is the first
Thing to be traversed
You are lovable? Really
You admit it so freely

Learning to love yourself is a lie
Searching for gratification; why?
We view our selves as deserving
We learn nothing of serving

We know nothing of love
Bar the self thereof
We’ve lost our way
The world will always be grey

When we put the self-first
We cannot be reimbursed
Loving others and unfortunates
Parking the ego that masturbates

Learning to love takes practice kiss
Loving oneself, something is amiss
You can only learn from watching
Giving, caring, and empathising

Love is learned by loving others
Damage is done; the lie smothers
Liking yourself is acceptable
Loving yourself is unacceptable

You must have self-doubt
Unless this dark romance is all you're about
