A Million Stars (string of Tanka)

The milky way glowed
With lights of a million stars
That shone from afar
I gazed with wonder awestrucked
At the magnificent sight

The twinkling stars smiled
Soothed my weary lonely heart
As I sat waiting
The night was lonesome and dark
And I was melancholic

Tears rolled down my face
Touched by loveliness
Of the starlit sky
Silhouettes of the trees loomed
Under the light of the stars

I thought of Van Gogh's
Painting of the starry night
And sang an old song
The "Vincent" by Don Mclean
My melancholy lifted

The sight of the stars
Made me dreamy last night
It made my heart sing
As if by magic I saw
A shooting star racing fast
