Remember

When will I at last wash ashore?
I do not want to drown here anymore.
We were glass of the pale sky’s dew
Such is the way I remember you:
On feathers gathered round a marble tree—
But do you ever remember me?

We are the dew and whenever we die
We return to the sky,
Come down as the rain,
Weep for a time and rise again…

We are two ghosts, and we are one dream
In the wings of swans looking over the stream.
I remember you when our spirits were still entombed
In the summer where thorns alone had bloomed.

We kissed the sun when we were tears and flowers,
I clasped my hands and thought that they were ours.
Nobody lays gifts or roses on our graves,
No one weeps for the lilies over the waves.

How I remember you: such a beautiful face
And now we are gone without a trace.
One day again we’ll be the dew
And then I will remember you
As we are two drops within the sea,
But darling, will you remember me?
