Safety In Numbers

They said
Surround myself with good.
Build a network.
More people.

Get time under your belt.
more minutes,
hours,
days,

More Numbers.

They told me I had the strength
to feel
to breathe
to fight

They told me the more I tried
day by day
it would get easier...

easier they told me.

But My demons like to kill,
they thirst....

The more time I accrued,
the more people I met,
the more pages I wrote,
the more songs I played,
the more truths I told…

They loved it.
The more the merrier.
More blood to shed,
more virtues to destroy,
more victims to take.

My demons never leave.
They watch,
they wait…
and when the time is right,
when the numbers are high enough,
they strike.

They told me once,
Safety in the good things,
the right things.

And look at me now.

They chose to show themselves...
And they Murdered all of me.
Cold blood
running to the ground...

my hands shake,
alone,
tired,
helpless,
afraid.

Yes they told me safety in numbers,

And now I am starting to question,
who was really speaking.
