spiderweb

the hurt in your windowed soul revealed so much
I grieved over the pained, sutured guilt you held
stitched with spiderwebs of days gone by
I held you tight to my brokenness and we cried together
in the dawn's brittle, cold, and empty light

the sun failed to shine on you these past years
it cast a shadow that held no warmth
you relived the trauma of a single day like it was today
haunted by midnights...
you play out the scene frame by frame

on a mission, you fight the good fight
smiling at hollow peoples who just don't understand
what it is to be a man who carries the world on their shoulders
every day you wake up, pick up the loss
and stuff it in your backpack of grief

walking on into sunsets of regret
but there is no shame for you to carry
there is redemption in the sorrow
salvation in the pain

stand tall and claim today
for it belongs to you...

may the dawn's light kiss your emptiness
and bring you tears of release
no longer your burden to bear
