[Isaiah 29:14; I Corinthians 1:19]

the rulers
of this world
they thought
themselves
powerful
but they shall fall
like grasshoppers
at the
reckoning
§
rich
but they
do not know
they are
poor
and wretched
§
secure
in royal robes
but the wind
shall clothe them
in rags
§
unconquerable
but they shall flee
like dogs
at the
trembling
§
they thought
their feast days
could never end
but they shall groan
in hunger
their seed
begging bread
§
they thought
the spirit of liquor
could yield more than
dutch courage
but they shall
wallow
in the piss
and vomit
of their drunken
stupor
§
they thought
by their own
conceit
that they were wise
but pale pity
shall render them
piteous fools
§
their fatness
was only
for a time
and a season
for they shall be
disconsolate
in every wise
§
and their
wisdom
is but of this
world
